#Announcing Spring 2026 Pebble App Contest!
In honour of Pebble Time 2 entering mass production, we’re hosting a contest to celebrate developers who have created amazing apps and watchfaces for Pebble…and to encourage devs to create new apps for Time 2 and Round 2! (We’re using the word app to mean app or watchface)
The contest starts today and runs until April 19! Prizes are 25 new watches (Time 2 or Round 2 - winner’s choice), including 3 ultra limited edition transparent Time 2 watches!
Developers - here’s how to enter the contest:
- Import or claim your pre-2026 apps (find your app on the Pebble Appstore and click ‘Claim your app’ or import here if they don’t show up)
- Publish a new app for Time 2 and/or Round 2
Not a developer? You can still win! You don’t even need to own a Pebble. Sign in, then add a ‘Heart’ on the Pebble appstore to any app created during the contest to be entered into a separate draw. Check the leaderboard to see the candidates, try out the apps (on a watch, or in a browser), and give a ‘heart’ to your favourites! We’ll give a watch to two random folks who heart an app.

Tasks.org companion app - just look at how much more content PT2 shows on screen!

#How to build a Pebble app or watchface
The original Pebble devrel team made it ridiculously easy to build an app for Pebble, and we’ve worked hard to continue that tradition. Anyone coding-savvy can build a ‘hello world’ and run on their watch (or emulator) in under 5 minutes. It’s the perfect fun weekend project!
- You can write apps in C (tutorial) or JavaScript (tutorial)
- Use the local SDK for Mac, Linux or Windows (WSL)
- Or build with CloudPebble entirely in your browser!
Get inspired by browsing apps.rePebble.com. Filter by ‘source available’ to learn how other devs built beautiful watchfaces for Pebble! Or try using our Claude/Codex skill to help you build your dream watchface.
#Other SDK news and miscellanea
Pebble SDK 4.9.148 was released last week, along with an update for pebbletool. Please update both: uv tool upgrade pebble-tool --python 3.13 and pebble sdk install latest
You can now publish to the Pebble appstore from cli pebble publish and CloudPebble - it even generates gifs/screenshots of your app (on every platform) and uploads them!
Remember to add support for Quick View to your watchface - we’ve added instructions on how to do this to the C tutorial and Alloy (JS) tutorial.
Alloy (the new Pebble JavaScript framework announced in Feb) is now out of developer preview! The Moddable team merged in a major update to the SDK. Alloy devs - update your SDK then run pebble build again. NB: many C APIs are not yet available in Alloy, we’re working on this. Verbose logging has also been disabled by default, set kModdableCreationFlagLogInstrumentation in your mdbl.c to re-enable.
Lavender created a beautiful Figma Template of PebbleOS design elements. Great for app devs or folks working on PebbleOS tweaks!
We published the electrical block diagram of Pebble Time 2, and the final 3D CAD for the watch and charger on our hardware repo.
#Contest rules and finer print
Visit developer.rePebble.com/dashboard to view your entries. There are 4 ways to win a watch:
- Developer draw (10 watch prizes)
- Import/claim your pre-2025 apps (once, one entry into draw). If you have already done this, you are already entered!
- Publish a new app (created date April 2 or later) for Time 2 and/or Round 2 (once, one entry into draw)
- Each dev can have up to 2 entries in the draw. We’ll pick 10 random entries.
- Most hearts (10 watch prizes)
- Publish a new app (created date April 2 or later) to be entered
- To favour apps submitted later in the contest, there will be two phases:
- 5 watches will be awarded to the top 5 hearted apps with a created date between April 2-12
- 5 watches will be awarded to the top 5 hearted apps with a created date between April 13-20
- Pebble team judging (3 transparent Time 2 watches)
- Any app created since Jan 1, 2026 is automatically entered
- Pebble team members will judge based on creativity, cleverness, good use of new platforms, and design
- Heart an app draw (2 watch prizes)
- Anyone who hearts an app created between April 2 and 19 is automatically entered in the draw
- We’ll pick two random people
- Find apps to heart on the leaderboard
You could win multiple prizes! The contest runs from April 2 to April 19, 2026 UTC. It will take us a few days after April 19 to prepare the results. No purchase is necessary. We will ship winners watches to them for free to any country that we normally ship to. If you win, you may pick to receive a Time 2 or Round 2. If you’ve already pre-ordered one, you can choose to get a refund OR get both watches. We’ll send winners watches out as early as possible (beat the pre-order queue!).
Please be honourable and do not try to game the system. Frivolous, fake, low value (ie just publishing the new-project template, republishing your old apps with no changes etc), fake hearts or scam submissions will be removed. We reserve all rights to remove any app from the contest or appstore.
Keep in mind - this contest is meant to be fun! If you spot a problem or have questions, please email us.
